Definition of Class
This is office and clerical work of limited responsibility which follows well-established policies and procedures. Employees in this class are responsible for performing definable tasks involving established procedures and technical knowledge of a work area. Employees in this class do not exercise supervision over subordinate employees. Employees in this class works under general supervision; however self-motivation is required. Contact with customers is frequent and may involve persons who are sometimes antagonistic. This employee may be assigned additional work daily according to the needs of the department. This is a part time position and therefore is not eligible for benefits. |
Essential Duties Performed
100% -- Answers telephone and waits on customer at reception area;
- Receives and routes calls;
- Receives and records messages;
- Provides basic information to caller;
- Dispatches employees using two-way radio;
- Inputs customer service requests into work order system;
- Greets visitors and provides directions;
- Screens calls and visitors;
- Processes mail, receipts, and other paperwork associated with the department(s);
- Maintains office filling system; ensures accuracy and integrity of office files;
- Performs other duties as assigned;
- Must report to work as scheduled and on time.
OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED - Operates standard office equipment;
- Handles correspondence from various departments;
- Provides backup to related positions;
- Serves as a member of various employee teams;
- May serve as back up to other administrative positions;
- Provides appropriate information to other agencies and the public;

Minimum Education Requirements
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices, or
- One (1) year of responsible related experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office;
- Some knowledge of bookkeeping;
- Basic keyboarding/typing skills;
- Ability to quickly make accurate arithmetic computations;
- Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Ability to follow written and oral directions;
- Ability to handle stressful situations;
- Ability to maintain files;
- Must have excellent telephone skills;
- Must be able to function successfully as a contributing member of a high efficiency team.
