Definition of Class
This is entry level, general duty firefighting and rescue work in combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires, emergency medical for the protection of life and property. Firefighting and rescue activities are performed under close supervision and in accordance with well-defined procedures. A substantial amount of duty time is directed toward inspecting and maintaining equipment, performing supervised training, and maintaining quarters. Must be able to work 24 hour shifts. Assignments and work performed are received from departmental superiors in both firefighting and maintenance duties. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing.
