During the weeks of Christmas and New Year holidays, the following adjustments will be made for residents and commercial customers in the City of Alcoa. Residents are reminded to have garbage carts to the curb by 6:30 a.m.
Residential garbage collections normally scheduled for Thursday, December 25, will be collected on Friday, December 26. Residential garbage collections normally scheduled for Thursday, January 1, will be collected on Friday, January 2. There will be no commercial pickups on Thursday, December 25, or Thursday, January 1, 2026.
For the week of Christmas, bulky waste will not be picked up on Wednesday or Thursday. Brush Collection will begin Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Recycling scheduled for Friday, Dec 26, will be collected on Saturday, Dec 27. For New Year's week, recycling routes will run normally per the calendar.
The Alcoa / Maryville / Blount County Landfill will be closed on Thursday, December 25, and Thursday, January 1. All other business days will maintain regular operating hours of 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Please call (865)995-2892 for questions concerning the Landfill operations.
