Definition of Class
DEFINITION OF CLASSPerforms administrative work in supporting the payroll and human resource functions of the city. This position is a part time position and reports directly to the Human Resources Director. Starting hourly rate DOE. Part time positions are not eligible for benefits. |
Essential Duties Performed
100% -ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERFORMED- Compiles payroll and benefits data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance and employee identification numbers from time sheets and other records;
- Reviews computed wages and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll;
- Records changes affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and various payroll deductions for each employee to update master payroll records;
- Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages;
- Assists in preparation of payroll and issues paychecks timely and accurately;
- Prepares periodic financial, statistical or operational reports as assigned;
- Prepares and keeps records on the city's retirement and thrift plans;
- Work cooperatively with other municipal staff members;
- Coordinates W-2 distribution;
- Assists with monthly, quarterly, and annual reports;
- Direct interface with IRS and state tax recipients;
- Must report to work as scheduled and on time.
OTHER DUTIES PERFORMED- Answers payroll and benefits related questions from employees;
- Maintains payroll related employee leave records, such as sick or vacation leave;
- Assists with other human resources related duties as assigned by HR Director;
- May serve as back-up to various other HR department staff as requested;
- Serves as a member of various employee teams.

Minimum Education Requirements
- Graduation from a high school with specialized course work in accounting, general office practices, or data processing, and
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related payroll experience

- Working knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices;
