The Alcoa Police Department announces the arrest of a Knoxville man for criminal homicide. On Friday, May 20, at approximately 10:45 p.m. the Alcoa Police Department (APD) and Alcoa Fire Department (AFD) responded to a call at the M Star Hotel on Alcoa Highway. Once Alcoa Officers arrived on scene, a male victim was found with a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the University of Tennessee Hospital via AMR, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
APD Officers and Detectives began a criminal investigation, which lead to the arrest of Michael Anthony Huerta of Knoxville. During the investigation, Alcoa Detectives determined there was an altercation in the parking lot before the shooting.
The General Sessions court date for Huerta is June 13, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. The bond is set for $750,000.
