City of Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell announced today that an 11-year-old female remains in critical condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center as a result of a vehicle crash on Calderwood Street.
At
5:08 p.m. on December 11, 2016, officers responded to the crash on Calderwood
Street at Gill Street. An investigation revealed that a 29-year-old Maryville
man, Dustin Lequire, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on
Calderwood Street. A 76-year old
Rockford man, David Fraze, was driving a 1998 Dodge Durango eastbound on Gill
Street when the vehicles collided in the intersection.
The
injured child was transported by Rural Metro Ambulance Service to the hospital.
The driver of the suburban was uninjured, and the driver of the Durango was
treated at the scene for minor injuries.
All
occupants were using their seatbelts and the children were in booster
seats. The investigation is continuing
and all family members have been notified.
