[ARCHIVED] Maryville Child Remains in Critical Condition After Crash

City of Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell announced today that an 11-year-old female remains in critical condition at the University of Tennessee Medical Center as a result of a vehicle crash on Calderwood Street.

At 5:08 p.m. on December 11, 2016, officers responded to the crash on Calderwood Street at Gill Street. An investigation revealed that a 29-year-old Maryville man, Dustin Lequire, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban southbound on Calderwood Street.  A 76-year old Rockford man, David Fraze, was driving a 1998 Dodge Durango eastbound on Gill Street when the vehicles collided in the intersection.

The injured child was transported by Rural Metro Ambulance Service to the hospital. The driver of the suburban was uninjured, and the driver of the Durango was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

All occupants were using their seatbelts and the children were in booster seats.  The investigation is continuing and all family members have been notified.
