The City of Alcoa Electric Department will be sending a 5-man electric crew and equipment to assist with the restoration of power in the aftermath of hurricane Florence. The crew is set to depart as early as Sunday, depending on the storm’s impact on the Alcoa electric system. The City’s number one priority is its own customers and will not release the crew until it is confident there are no extraordinary threats to its own customers’ service. The men will be taking a four-wheel drive pickup; one 55-ft, tandem bucket truck; and one digger derrick and expect to be assigned to a North or South Carolina area utility.
The crew plans to return no later than Sunday, September 23rd.
