Temporary Hunt Road / Alcoa Highway Interchange Closure Set for March 26th

We apologize for the inconvenience the temporary detour will cause during the closures of the west side of the Hunt Road interchange. The closure must occur in order to tie Tesla Boulevard into the existing interchange. The following efforts have been made to minimize the disruption to the Springbrook neighborhood along the northbound route:

• New pedestrian crossing signs were installed between the upper and lower fields of Springbrook Park.
• An additional speed limit sign was installed on Alcoa Rd.
• Orange flags were added to the stop sign at Springbrook Rd & Alcoa Rd.
• Installed supplemental speed limit signs (orange detour signage).

Alcoa police will be patrolling the route and will utilize speed radar units along the detour to enforce the speed limit. Coordination has been made with Arconic (formerly ALCOA, Inc.) to provide an alternate truck detour route by message board and signs. Trucks will be directed to I-140 Eastbound and then to the Cusick Road off ramp.

City staff will be evaluating signals at effected intersections as well as the detour route through the neighborhood to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible. Adjustments, if needed, will be made as necessary. Weather permitting; the contactor should finish the tie in to the interchange within two weeks.

Again, apologies are extended for disruptions and inconveniences resulting from this work. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
